Carrefour x Foodvisor
This is a project we did for our masters degree, we were asked to make research on carrefour's app to find pain points and come up with actionable solutions. Carrefour is one of the leader supermarkets in france, and we decided to enhance student's global experience by helping them shop healthy food.

Challenge
For this project we we challenged on the reasearch phase, we had to had to find paint points and ways to improve their life without any context. Allowing us to tacle whichever user experience issue we deemed was relevant. Research showed us students in particular were having trouble finding time, ways, and inspiration to follow a healthy diet when they lived away from home. Through Carrefour lense, we tried findind digital solutions that could adress this specific issue.
Results
After gathering all of our research insights, we knew we need a whole new feature, but decided have an alternative approach : collaborating with an other app, mutualising well designed feature to get the best both worlds keeping the users as our priority
41%
French uni students declared skipping a least one meal per week
35%
French students deem their food diets are unbalanced & unhealthy
40%
French student would like supermarkets to help them have healthier diets
Process
Research & Analysis: After identifying the user category we wanted to focus on, we conducted a survey targeting our specific demographic. The results confirmed that young users felt comfortable navigating the app, but many didn’t plan their shopping in advance. We discovered that this was largely because they didn’t know how to plan meals for the week and often struggled to find healthy meal ideas, leading to frustration. To refine our focus, we held a "How Might We" session, which helped us define a clear problem statement to address.
Defining the concept: We noticed a key issue in the user experience when it came to shopping on the app. It wasn’t about the e-commerce interface itself, but more about how could help and guide users whilst shopping. Many of the people we interviewed mentioned that they often didn’t have a clear idea of what recipes they wanted to make, which left them feeling unsatisfied after shopping. Without a plan, some products would expire before they had the chance to use them. This sparked the idea of incorporating recipe inspiration, similar to apps like Jow, that could help users create thoughtful shopping lists without being too time-consuming. We wanted to offer quick, easy recipe ideas that fit within the users' busy schedules and limited cooking equipment. That's when we the idea of doing a collaboration between Carrefour and Foodvisor, a meal planning app. Rather that adding feature that already exist, such as recipe cards with quantities and instructions, we thought it could be smarter to work with apps that already appeal to our target and create a bridge to our app to enhance their global experience.
Wireframing & Prototyping: We designed low-fidelity wireframes based on our user flows to visualize how you could blend the foodvisor experience with the carrefour shopping experience. Afterward, we built a high-fidelity, interactive prototype using foodvisors current design system whilst incorporating a shortcut to export all the ingredients requiered to make the receipies. We built a prototype to make sure the whole experience operated smoothly
Conclusion
This project taught me how do deal with research data once it's collected, it helped me define and prioritize the areas of work on which we could focus on to have impact.
