Veepee : reinventing online shopping

Veepee, formerly known as Vente-Privee, is a leading e-commerce platform specializing in flash sales. Founded in 2001, the company revolutionized online private sales by offering exclusive, time-limited deals on premium brands across fashion, beauty, home goods, and more. With a strong focus on curating high-quality products and creating a seamless shopping experience, Veepee operates in multiple countries across Europe, connecting millions of members with top brands at discounted prices.

For my final master's degree exams, Veepee teamed up with my school to make a competition based on a realistic brief.

Challenges

The brief given by Veepee highligthed several challenges, we had to modernize the app in order to reach a younger audience. The client also needed a modular system to help them customize pages for the different sales events while ensuring consistency in the apps design.
Users often didn't know what they wanted to shop for, so we designed an exploratory and engaging shopping journey with immersive visuals, and "shop the look" features to inspire discovery.

Results

The redesigned concept app introduces a fresh navigation system and a clutter-free interface, making shopping on mobile not only easier but more enjoyable.

Our concept aimed to highlight the uniqueness of the limited-time products available on the app. We incorporated gamification elements, drawing inspiration from dating apps, to ensure users enjoyed a new, dynamic experience each time they opened it.

We were awarded 1st place in the competition, with the jury consisting of Veepee stakeholders and senior designers.

Conclusion

This project reinforced the importance of collaborating with various teams, such as marketing, tech, and communication, to ensure that design intentions are effectively translated to end users. It was also a valuable experience to challenge traditional design patterns in B2C e-commerce apps by exploring new ways to guide users through their shopping journey. This opportunity to experiment and innovate deepened my understanding of how design can impact user experience in meaningful ways.
